Palin endorses Obama!

McCain/Palin are having a really bad week, and now CNN is calling Palin a supporter of Obama, no kidding, really.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CNN) – Sarah Palin likes to tell voters around the country about how she "put the government checkbook online" in Alaska. On Thursday, Palin suggested she would take that same proposal to Washington.

"We're going to do a few new things also," she said at a rally in Cedar Rapids. "For instance, as Alaska’s governor, I put the government’s checkbook online so that people can see where their money’s going. We’ll bring that kind of transparency, that responsibility, and accountability back. We’re going to bring that back to D.C."

There's just one problem with proposing to put the federal checkbook online – somebody's already done it. His name is Barack Obama.

Ever see a campaign implode on themselves?

Dow tumbles day after Palin speech

And on the eve of the McCain speech the Dow tumbles more then 300 points. Will we hear anything from the RNC on how the policies of the Republicans have harmed our economy? I doubt it, but you will hear why Obama is so bad for our country.

McCain can run on his experience, but he can't hide from the experience this nation has had to endure under eight years of a Republican administration that has destroyed our middle class, an administration that McCain has been in lock step with 90 percent of the time.

Health care. Good wages. Affordable college education. These are the issues that Americans want to hear about, and I can almost guarantee that McCain isn't going to tell America how he plans to change one thing.

Maverick, no, old, worn out nag, yes.

Comparing this whole RNC convention to what we had just a week ago couldn't be more clear, and once again, here is our message, compare it to what you have heard, and what you will hear tonight.

Conservative Andrew Sullivan : "The hope we confess"

Andrew Sullivan is a conservative who has written a powerful and exact analysis of Obama's speech last night. Here is a small excerpt, do yourself a favor and read the entire article because it is worth every word.

He starts with:

It was a liberal speech, more unabashedly, unashamedly liberal than any Democratic acceptance speech since the great era of American liberalism. But it made the case for that liberalism - in the context of the decline of the American dream, and the rise of cynicism and the collapse of cultural unity. His ability to portray that liberalism as a patriotic, unifying, ennobling tradition makes him the most lethal and remarkable Democratic figure since John F Kennedy.

And it gets better.

New hard hitting ad from Obama

One difference between Obama and McCain ads is that the Obama ads actually contain fact, and this new one is no exception. McCain's ads for the most part have been noted for their outright lies, not just by those of us who are partisan, but the pundits as well.

Here is a GREAT new ad from Obama, running in swing states:

The Low Road Express

John McSame who claims he is a straight talker has recently stooped to the lowest of the low in his campaign for president. McSame has lied to the media, he claims that Obama is elitist (when McSame can be found wearing $500+ shoes while campaigning), and he distorts reality.

Thus the Obama campaign has come out with a new website, one that nails McSame for his lack of anythiung presidential, a must see website that you should pass along to all of your friends, take a quick look at TheLowRoadExpress and make sure to bookmark and return to learn of the new lows the McSame campaign seeks.

Is it November yet?

The real story about the primaries

We have all heard the talking heads discuss who is the front runner, who is gaining, who is losing support. We have heard these same talking heads go on about how much of a problem Democrats will face if we don't have a nominee right away. Well, the real story is something beyond what the talking heads are bringing up, and it gives us all something to think about, and it does not bode well for the Gopers.

Let us take a moment and look at the number of voters who are turning out to vote in 2008. For instance, in Santa Clara County:

Completed Precincts 929 of 929
Total Registration 689,052

Vote by Mail Reporting Turnout
40.61%279,813
Precinct Reporting Turnout
21.63%149,047

62.24%428,860

So, we had 62 percent of voters turn out. Now, let us take a closer look and see who those voters were:

Democrats had a total of 263,201 voters turn out, and the local GOP? A grand total of 118,526. 100,000 more Democratic votes in our county, actually the Democratic turnout was more then DOUBLE the number of GOP voters.

And this disparity is not unique to our county, these types of numbers are being seen all over our nation, Democratic turnout beating the GOP turnout out by record numbers, even in the "red" states.

The people of our nation are waking up to the reality of a failed presidency, of a failed party, and they are coming home to support Democrats in 2008. We still have work to do, we still have a hard and long campaign ahead of us, but as the numbers show, it is clearly within our grasp to win back the White House this year, and even gain seats in both houses of Congress.

As Democrats we must not lose sight of our goals, we should remember that we are stronger when we work together, and to win the White House we will need to come together after this primary is over. While I support Obama, if Hillary wins the nomination I will be there in full force to support her and my party and country.

It is an honor to be a Democrat this year, as we create history in so many ways. Obama, the first African American to have a real chance to become president, Hillary, the first woman to be a viable candidate for president. I can't ever remember a year when being a Democrat was so filled with awe, with respect, with amazement and excitement.

Together we can, together we will. GO DEMS!
