Conservative Andrew Sullivan : "The hope we confess"

Andrew Sullivan is a conservative who has written a powerful and exact analysis of Obama's speech last night. Here is a small excerpt, do yourself a favor and read the entire article because it is worth every word.

He starts with:

It was a liberal speech, more unabashedly, unashamedly liberal than any Democratic acceptance speech since the great era of American liberalism. But it made the case for that liberalism - in the context of the decline of the American dream, and the rise of cynicism and the collapse of cultural unity. His ability to portray that liberalism as a patriotic, unifying, ennobling tradition makes him the most lethal and remarkable Democratic figure since John F Kennedy.

And it gets better.

McCain's campaign speechless

The video keeps pouring in, and across the board there is no doubt that history was made yesterday. What is even more clear is that the McCain campaign has underestimated Obama and their attempt at a response was not only weak, pundits are saying the McCain camp was basically speechless.

More GOP praise for Obama

Before you view this video you need to know a few things about the person speaking:

To understand the significance, you've got to know a bit about who Castellanos is -- a longtime, street-fighting Republican political consultant with a reputation that compares to Lee Atwater's in terms hard-edged political warfare. I believe he's also informally working with the McCain campaign this cycle, as a sort of outside advisor.

Chuck Todd said below he thought Obama's speech had left the McCain camp speechless. My own take was that the tone of the statement from the McCain campaign was like someone who'd had the wind knocked out of them.

In that context, Castellanos' response was very telling. He made no attempt to put the speech in any positive context for McCain. Midway through this clip he sounds like an Obama surrogate. And he concludes by saying that "whoever didn't get picked for Republican VP today may be a lucky Republican."

How good was Obama's speech? Let Pat Buchanan tell you.

Historic. Inspiring. Our nominee: Barack Obama

There are no words that can describe that which Obama achieved tonight, and even Chris Matthews, pundit, cynic, could not stop from exclaiming, "I am inspired."

Our next President of the United States, Barack Obama:

Joe Biden: Our next Vice-President

This was one of Biden's finest hours, he touched not just Democrats, but all Americans, he gave Americans a reason to vote for him, for the ticket, he clearly explained why McCain was wrong on everything, and at the same time he showed that Obama has been right on every foreign policy issue that McCain has been proven wrong on.

I am so very proud to be a Democrat tonight, and now I present our next Vice-President, Senator Joe Biden:

Hillary Clinton's amazing and powerful speech

Last night Hillary Clinton gave one of the best convention speeches ever heard. She strongly and clearly enunciated what is at stake this election, and she left no room for doubt of her support for our nominee, Obama.
